A couple of years ago I made some emotional snowballs. This year I made some cheeky ones. At least one of them is a cannibal.

I found this on my driveway yesterday. It occurred to me that finding a bean really says a lot about a person.

We've got at least two fairy circles that are starting to take shape and a bunch of little groups popping up. Much to my husbands delight there are also a few giant puffballs growing. They look like lovely giant moons resting on the ground.

He's got a annoying cold and his nose will not let him sleep.

I decided to try my hand at them too and bought up a bunch. Here's the first one complete, a teeny gardener's hutch filled with loads of fairy gardening goodies.

The whole thing measures just 8.5" tall. It's pretty damned spectacular out there. Just look as this huge basket of swiss chard I just picked.

Now I have to process it so that the fruits of our labour won't go to waste. For this giant basket of swiss chard I'll wash, trim, blanch, squeeze and freeze.
There's loads of other stuff back there too. 
Too many eggplants to count.

This year we went to Bonnechere which sits on Round Lake, in the Ottawa valley, just a short trip from Algonquin park.

The beach was fab.

Our site was right on the Little Bonnechere river.

The weather was (mostly) great.

D especially loved just sitting at the waters edge and catching a few fish :)

I basically podged, collaged and grunged the outside using pattern paper and I'm really pleased with how it came out.

The books have leather, faux suede, and fabric covers.

I've spent a little more time on my Gothic mansion and it's ready to be embellished and filled with goodies. 




The roof isn't what I wanted at all but I'll save that idea for another time. From here I'll continue to work on the exterior by adding moss, dirt, dust and that sort of old outdoorsy stuff.

One of my darling aunties came to visit all the way from Ireland.  We took her to a country auction which was an absolute giggle. Our first days with Hunter have been pretty good. He's really bright and is picking up the clicker training well. He can sit like a pro, and we're working on "lay down", "stay" and "high 5". My intention was to make a collection of things that an imp might pick up and hold for safe keeping but things sort of changed direction in the middle. My cousin-in-law just had a little girl named Paige. I've made a fairy godmother for the little one, wand and all, to keep all sorts of good wishes in safe keeping. 


She's got a hoity paper crown on top of her lambs wool hair, and she's keeping a close eye on that felted bee to make sure he doesn't fly into anyone's bonnet.

*sigh* In my head there are loads of lovely things fluttering and floating about. My fingers are having none of it this week. They are refusing to co-operate! I was hoping for a lovely little town and on my first attempt, got instead, a sort of depressing village that looks as though it's about to suffer a very bad storm :P

A whole village of faerie houses!

What's that? These aren't quite as pretty or nearly as detailed as the others? Well that's true but there's a reason for that. They are just a little smaller than the original faerie houses I made.

We had a grand time on the Rideau Canal. If you're ever near Ottawa in the coldest of months check to see if the canal is open for skaters, it's a real treat.

That's where I've been for a while. It's frustrating. It's sort of depressing. It sure is nice to see the results when the things are FINALLY finished.

Yesterday was such a great day. Birds singing, sunshine, 'spring' cleaning... and I managed to get three whole projects completed last night!
